What is DICOM?

DICOM (.dcm) is the universal standard for medical imaging. Each scan is organized as a Study (one exam session) containing one or more Series (individual scan sequences like axial CT or sagittal MRI). Files embed rich metadata—patient info, slice thickness, acquisition parameters—and together form 3D volumes of hundreds of cross-sectional slices.

AI Analysis by ReadYourLab

Your scans are analyzed by ReadYourLab's medical AI, trained natively on 3D volumetric data. It can detect lesions, localize anatomical structures, and track changes over time. It is not a replacement for a radiologist—think of it as an informed first look to help you prepare for your next appointment. Learn more →

One Upload Flow for CT and MRI Scans

Whether your DICOM folder holds a CT or an MRI, our AI analyzes the complete scan volume and explains every finding in plain language.

Works with CT & MRI

The same secure upload handles both modalities. The AI reads the DICOM metadata, recognizes whether your scan is a CT or an MRI, and applies the right analysis automatically.

Full 3D Volume Analysis

Your scan is analyzed as a complete 3D volume—hundreds of slices understood together, not as isolated 2D images—so findings are seen in their full anatomical context.

Plain-Language Reports

Complex radiology findings explained in terms you can understand. No medical jargon—just clear descriptions of what the AI found in your scan.

Sequences & Contrast Support

ReadYourLab recognizes T1, T2, FLAIR, and DWI MRI sequences as well as contrast-enhanced and non-contrast CT scans, adjusting its analysis to the protocol used.

Free Online DICOM Viewer

Preview your CT or MRI slices instantly in our free DICOM (.dcm) viewer—no installation required, and your files stay on your device until you choose to upload.

Privacy First

Your scan data is encrypted in transit and at rest, never shared with third parties, and you can delete it anytime. GDPR compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about AI-powered CT and MRI analysis, DICOM uploads, and our radiology reports.

What types of CT scans can ReadYourLab analyze?

ReadYourLab supports all standard CT scan DICOM files, including head CT, chest CT, abdominal CT, and pelvic CT. Upload the complete DICOM folder containing all slices for the most accurate 3D volumetric analysis.

What types of MRI scans can ReadYourLab analyze?

ReadYourLab supports all standard MRI DICOM files, including brain MRI, spine MRI, knee MRI, shoulder MRI, hip MRI, and abdominal MRI. Multiple sequences (T1, T2, FLAIR, DWI) from the same study can be uploaded and analyzed separately.

How long does CT scan analysis take?

Most CT scan analyses complete in 2-5 minutes after upload, depending on the number of slices. A typical CT series of 200-500 slices processes quickly. You will receive a notification when your report is ready.

Do I need to upload all CT DICOM files or just some?

For the most accurate analysis, upload the complete DICOM folder containing all slices from your CT series. The AI analyzes the full 3D volume, so partial uploads may result in incomplete findings. A typical CT scan contains 100-500 .dcm files. Read our upload guide for step-by-step instructions.
