Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 22, 2026 Last updated: March 1, 2026

ReadYourLab helps you understand medical documents and imaging using AI. We treat privacy and health-related information with care. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices available to you.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the ReadYourLab website and services (the "Service"). It covers information collected when you browse the site, submit questions, upload documents (including images/PDFs), or upload medical imaging folders (such as DICOM data) for analysis.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Questions and messages: text you enter into the chat or upload question fields. This information is stored to maintain conversation history.
  • Uploaded files: images, PDFs, and medical imaging files/folders you choose to upload for analysis. Important: Document uploads (PDFs, images) are deleted immediately after analysis. DICOM image series are stored on our servers as processed JPEG images so you can view reports and images at any time. You may delete any stored series at any time through the Service interface. See our Data Security page for details.
  • Contact information: your name and email address, which are stored encrypted to provide you with analysis results and support.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages viewed, approximate interaction data, and basic diagnostics.
  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, and timestamps (as typically collected by web servers).
  • Cookies/analytics: we may use analytics tools such as Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand site performance and improve the Service.

2.3 Managing Cookie Consent

When you first visit ReadYourLab, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner. You can choose to accept or reject non-essential cookies (analytics and tracking). Your choice is stored locally in your browser and will be remembered for future visits.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by:

  • Clearing your browser's local storage for readyourlab.com
  • Using your browser's cookie management settings

3. How We Use Information

  • To provide and operate the Service (including analyzing your uploaded content and responding to your questions).
  • To maintain reliability, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve features and user experience.
  • To understand usage patterns (e.g., which pages are helpful) and improve site performance.
  • To comply with applicable laws, enforce our Terms, and protect our users and the public.

4. Marketing Communications

We may use your email address to send you service-related communications, including analysis status updates, account notifications, and occasional product updates or tips for getting the most out of ReadYourLab.

Opt-out: You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by replying to any email with "unsubscribe" or by contacting us at info@readyourlab.com. Essential service communications (such as password resets and security notices) cannot be opted out of.

5. How AI Processing Works (High-Level)

When you submit a question or upload a document for analysis, we process the content to generate a response. Depending on the feature you use, processing may involve third-party AI services (for example, AI model providers used to generate responses).

Data handling: Medical documents and images are processed and then immediately deleted. They are not stored by us or by third-party AI service providers. Only the analysis results are returned to you. For detailed information about our data security practices, see our Data Security page.

Important

Please do not submit information you do not want processed by the Service. Do not use the Service for emergencies. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call emergency services immediately.

The Service provides informational outputs and may include suggestions or recommendations; ReadYourLab is not responsible or liable for any health issues or adverse outcomes that may arise from using the Service or relying on its outputs.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your medical documents, personal information, or analysis results with third parties for their own purposes.

We may share information in limited circumstances, including:

Service providers: vendors that help operate the Service (hosting, analytics, and AI processing). They are permitted to use information only to provide services to us and are contractually bound to protect your data.

Important: Medical documents and images are processed by AI service providers but are not stored by them. They are deleted immediately after processing. Your medical documents are never shared with third parties for their own use, marketing, or data collection purposes.

  • Legal and safety: where required by law, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

For comprehensive details about our data sharing practices and security measures, please see our Data Security page.

7. Data Retention

Retention periods vary depending on the type of data:

  • Document uploads (PDFs, images): Deleted immediately after analysis is complete. They are not stored in our databases.
  • DICOM image series: Stored on our servers as processed JPEG images along with analysis reports. You may delete any series at any time through the DICOM management page. Deletion permanently removes all stored images and analysis data.
  • Extracted metadata: Not stored. Metadata extracted from medical documents is used only during analysis and then discarded.
  • Conversations and contact information: Retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. All stored data is encrypted.
  • Account deletion: If you request deletion of your account, all associated data including stored DICOM series, analysis reports, conversations, and personal information will be permanently removed within 30 days.

For detailed information about what we store and how we protect it, see our Data Security page.

8. Security

We implement comprehensive security measures to protect your information:

  • SSL/TLS encryption: All communications between your browser and our servers are encrypted.
  • Encryption at rest: Stored data (conversations, name, email) is encrypted using industry-standard encryption algorithms.
  • Immediate deletion: Medical documents and images are deleted immediately after analysis, ensuring they cannot be exposed even in the event of a security breach.
  • No long-term storage of medical data: Medical documents, images, and extracted metadata are not stored in our databases.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. For comprehensive details about our security practices, see our Data Security page.

9. Your Choices and Rights

  • Cookies: you can control cookies via the cookie consent banner that appears on your first visit, or by clicking "Reset Cookie Preferences" in section 2.3 above. You can also control cookies via your browser settings. Some features may not function properly if cookies are disabled.
  • Access/deletion: depending on your location, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information.
  • Opt-out of analytics: you may opt out by clicking "Reject All" in the cookie consent banner, or through your browser settings or available provider tools.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Service, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may be communicated through the site or by other reasonable means.
